Strengthening of Revenue Administration and Updating of Land Records

The second important scheme ,viz., Strengthening of Revenue Administration and Updating of Land Records was started during 1988-89 with 50:50 sharing basis between the Centre and the State.

    Updation is vital for systematic maintenance of land records to reflect ground realities in sync with ownership changes, ensure genuine land transactions & implement rural development programmes for effective enforcement of land reforms. It will minimize land disputes and create social harmony in villages.

The main objectives of the schemes are :-

  •  Strengthening of survey and settlement organizations for an early completion and preparation of land records in areas where this work still remains to be done.

  •  Setting up of survey and settlement organization especially in the northern regions where no land records exist.

  •  Imparting the pre-service and in-service training of revenue , survey and settlement staff and strengthening of training infrastructure in their purpose.

  •  Providing the facilities for the modernization  of survey and settlement operations, printing of survey maps , reports/documents and for storage , copying and updating of land and crops records using , amounting other things ,science and technology inputs.

  •  Strengthening of revenue machinery in the village and immediate supervisory levels on a selective basis to make the workload of these functionaries manageable.
